Weldon Whitener

Weldon is our Chief AI Officer, with responsibility for driving our AI transformation strategy. In addition to his role driving change internally at Maven, he is also actively helping our clients to transform how their businesses run with AI: from identifying where AI creates value to redesigning processes, delivering the right technology and making the change stick.

With a PhD in AI & Bioinformatics from the University of Cambridge, Weldon began his commercial career as a consultant at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) before Amazon headhunted him as Head of Pricing. He is also the Founder & CEO of two AI-focused companies: AfterGen, which specializes in AI-driven business transformations & intelligent automation, and Afterskills, which focuses on building AI, data & digital capabilities across global organizations. He is also a lecturer on AI in business at Harvard Business School, London Business School, MIT Sloan, Oxford Saïd & other leading institutions.

Outside of work Weldon enjoys scuba diving, hiking and exploring new cuisines. A self-confessed enthusiast of 'all the gear, no idea' philosophy he's always up for an adventure. However his self-proclaimed love of spicy food is somewhat undermined by a suspicious pollen allergy that only seems to flare up when he bites into an uncharacteristically spicy butter chicken.
